Founded in 1937 by Art & Grace Redner, General Filters manufactures residential, whole house indoor air quality (IAQ) products under the brand names GeneralAire® and Second Wind™ that include humidifiers, dehumidifiers, air cleaners, and UV air purifiers. General Filters also manufactures fuel oil filters for home heating systems under the brand names General, Unifilter®, and Gar-Ber.
General Filters products are offered throughout North America via a vast network of authorized sales agencies, wholesalers, and contractors. Throughout over 85 years of change, our commitment to quality remains the same. We strive to develop innovative products designed for today’s homes, demonstrated by recent product introductions: our Wi-Fi control dehumidifiers, low-profile evaporative humidifiers, and our model 5500 steam humidifier. Each of these products offers features not found in today’s market; features that offer easy installation and even easier maintenance. Product introductions will continue in 2023 with a truly innovative fan-assist evaporative humidifier that will complete our family of new, low-profile humidifiers.
General Filters supports our customers and products through complimentary printed literature, social media partnerships, Co-Op support, a private label program, promotions, trade shows, local wholesaler events, new store opening support, videos, and more.

We also offer a wholesaler finder and General Filters Sales Agency finder for anyone wishing to connect with our line of IAQ and oil products. JOHN EDMUNDS
Owner, President
With over 34 years of HVAC experience, John started with a major HVAC distributor in 1988 and worked his way up to outside sales. Next, John worked for a second major HVAC distributor outside sales for over two years. Immediately before starting Edmunds & Associates, Inc. in 2001, he spent nine years working as outside sales with a HVAC rep agency. Since 2001, Edmunds & Associates has developed a strong relationship-oriented rep agency through relationships with the manufacturers we represent, distributors, customers, and our associates. We are continually striving to be of value to our distributors, customers, and the manufacturers we represent.
TERRY CHILCOTE
Sales Manager
With over 40 years of HVAC experience, Terry started with a major distributor in 1983 creating the first location’s HVAC department. He then worked as a National Sales Manager for two different manufacturers and worked for an HVAC Rep Agency for 19 years before joining Edmunds & Associates in 2010.
JOEY NEELY
Sales Associate
Joey joins the team with over 12 years of HVAC experience and experience as a builder. Following a decorated 20-year career on the police force in the Charlotte area, he was a customer builder working with HVAC subcontractors, before joining Edmunds & Associates in 2016.
