SUMMARY:PPA TEC Basic Electric Theory for HVAC Components
DESCRIPTION:This electrical HVAC training class was specifically developed for individuals who want to increase their knowledge of electricity and how it pertains to HVAC equipment. The program will include more time for hands-on training on live-fire equipment and electrical simulators. The class will cover Safety & Hazard Awareness\, What is Electricity\, Ohm’s Law\, Circuits & Components\, Conductors\, Transformers\, 24V Controls\, Thermostats\, Motors\, Motor side of compressors\, Motor ratings and name plate definitions\, Wiring diagrams\, Automated control systems for residential\, and Troubleshooting. \nThis intensive program is comprised of hands-on training in our state-of-the-art lab\, electrical simulator equipment\, and classroom activities and discussion. Upon satisfactory completion of the course\, the registrant will have a working knowledge of basic electric theory for HVAC components and be able to apply that in a work environment. \n\n\n\nStudents who complete this course successfully will progressively be able to: \n\n• Demonstrate knowledge of the Basic Electric Theory for HVAC Components\, What is Electricity\, Ohm’s Law\, and other theory\n• Properly troubleshoot\, diagnose\, repair\, maintain\, and service popular brands of A/C units and heat pumps\n• Perform installation and maintenance on system components including:  Circuit & Components\, Conductors\,  Transformers\, Thermostats\, Motors\, Other electrical components with minimal supervision\n• Demonstrate grounding in the fundamentals of HVAC electrical components\n• Properly perform assigned duties demonstrating proper safety practices and procedures in the lab and the workplace\, while installing\, designing\, troubleshooting\, and servicing systems\n• Maintain a safe and OSHA compliant work environment\n• Multitask and prioritize all duties and responsibilities in order of importance.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration fees include: \n\nElectrical Tester & Digital Clamp Meter\nEssential Electrical Skills for HVACR Book\n\nOur Instructor: \nMike Elmer has been in the HVAC and plumbing industry since 2002 and has worked for leading contractors in the South Central PA region. His background includes service HVAC\, plumbing\, and electric. SUMMARY:PPA TEC ACCAs Residential Design Quality Installation
DESCRIPTION:Who is it for \nContractors\, technicians\, design and utility personnel\, wholesalers\, energy commission officials\, licensing and code officials\, and others interested in learning the importance\, including the economic and environmental benefits\, of accurate residential load calculation procedures for system design. \nDay 1: ACCA Manual J 8th Edition – Residential Load Calculations Receive complete instructions for estimating heat loss and heat gain for residential structures. Using MJ8ae we will cover the process that produces equipment sizing loads for single-family-detached homes\, small multi-unit structures\, condominiums\, townhouses\, and manufactured homes. It provides quick supplemental details and advanced topics as well as supporting reference tables and appendices. \nDay 2: Manual S 2nd Edition The focus here is how to properly select equipment for a dwelling using a detailed heating & cooling load calculation and actual OEM performance data from different manufacturers (Air Conditioning/ Heat Pumps/ Gas Furnaces). The duct design portion may begin at some point during this 2nd day. \nDay 3: Manual D 3rd Edition – Residential Duct Systems Designing a residential duct system as per ACCA Manual D will be the focus. You can apply this procedure to constant volume systems and zoned\, variable air volume systems\, over the full range of duct construction materials. Manual D also includes the most comprehensive equivalent length data ever published.
