SUMMARY:PPA TEC NORA Bronze Two Week Basic Oil Heat Program
DESCRIPTION:After 10 days of concentrated fundamental classroom theory\, coupled with practical laboratory work\, including hands-on experience on a variety of live-fire equipment\, you will acquire a solid foundation of knowledge. This training\, along with field experience\, will help build careers as installation and service technicians that will become an asset to you and your customers. \nThe final day of training is a test day. Standard test times range from 30 minutes – 3 hours depending on the individual student. In nearly all cases\, students start testing at 12:30 PM. \nBronze Certificate of Training will be awarded to each student who completes the course and passes the examination. The test is based on the NORA Oil Heat Technician’s Manual\, which is used for Silver Certification. \nRequirements: There are some study assignments required to be done by the students in the evening during the course. Therefore\, students should consider this in fulfillment of the program. \nRegistration includes lunch and the following tools: \n\nBeckett Module w/Keychain Pro-7652A\nBeckett Flash Drives\nCarlin Electrode Gauge Red & Yellow\nEnergy Kinetics 6-Way Screwdriver & Thermostat Screwdriver\n6-pack Oil Burner Electrode Gauges\nCoupling Popper\nT28 Bleeder Wrench\nElectric Meter\n\nOur Instructors: \nMike Elmer has been in the HVAC and plumbing industry since 2002 and has worked for leading contractors in the South Central PA region. His background includes service HVAC\, plumbing\, and electric. Mike currently works in the field as a lead troubleshooting service technician. \nDoug Zerbe has been in the HVAC industry since 2003.  On the contractor side of the industry\, he has worked as an installer and service technician before he moved into installation and service management.  Doug also had the opportunity to work in technical support for an HVAC distributor and in sales for an HVAC manufacturer. \n\nHotel Accommodations \nPPATEC is pleased to partner with local hotels that are in close proximity to our primary training venues. DESCRIPTION:This class teaches the importance of using both ladder and pictorial diagrams for electrical troubleshooting. Gain a better understanding of meter readings like no voltage reading and still possibility of getting shocked or when the continuity test (beep) may not tell the whole story. Get a better understanding of multiple pole switches and sensors. \nThis class will cover the following Hydronic Electrical topics: \n\n•   Electrical symbols pertaining to Hydronic boilers\n•   Ladder and pictorial diagrams\n•   Series and Parallel circuits\, determining sequence of operation\n•   Troubleshooting electrical tips\n•   Creating simple diagrams on handouts\n\nPlease make sure to bring a VOM meter to class. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nWho Should Attend: Service and Install Technicians \nRegistration fees includes: Catered lunch \nOur Instructor: Ron Beck worked for Arnold Fuel Oil for 20 Years – 11 years as a service tech\, and 9 years as the service manager for the company.  In 1998\, Ron was hired by US Boiler to work in the new tech service department and answer phone calls from technicians and installers. He started as a service tech and soon became the service manager. He was later promoted to Training Manager\, where he developed and performed training programs in the US and Canada. He continued to take technical service department calls as needed when not traveling. \nRon retired after 43 years in the industry\, but was not ready to step away from the industry and the work that he loves.
