SUMMARY:PPA TEC Hands-On HVAC Installation Bootcamp (5 Day)
DESCRIPTION:This 5-day class is designed to teach the basics of installation for a gas furnace and a/c system.  During the class we will cover an installation process to help your technician become familiar with the tasks needed to be completed for a successful on-time installation\, while installing a gas furnace and a/c system in our installation lab. \nTopics included are: \n\n• Safe removal of existing equipment\n• Proper Tool Use & Care\n• High Voltage Electrical\n• Low Voltage Electrical\n• Gas lines\n• Venting\n• Condensate\n• Ductwork and Air Flow\n• Refrigerant Circuit for A/C and HP\n• Start-Up and Commissioning\n\nRegistration fees includes: Catered lunch \nTarget Audience: This 40-hour class is designed for individuals who have no or very limited field installation experience. \nOur Instructor: \nDoug Zerbe has been in the HVAC industry since 2003.  On the contractor side of the industry\, he has worked as an installer and service technician before he moved into installation and service management.  Doug also had the opportunity to work in technical support for an HVAC distributor and in sales for an HVAC manufacturer. \nHotel Accommodations \nPPATEC is pleased to partner with local hotels that are in close proximity to our primary training venues. SUMMARY:PPA TEC Basic Electric Theory for HVAC Components
DESCRIPTION:This electrical HVAC training class was specifically developed for individuals who want to increase their knowledge of electricity and how it pertains to HVAC equipment. The program will include more time for hands-on training on live-fire equipment and electrical simulators. The class will cover Safety & Hazard Awareness\, What is Electricity\, Ohm’s Law\, Circuits & Components\, Conductors\, Transformers\, 24V Controls\, Thermostats\, Motors\, Motor side of compressors\, Motor ratings and name plate definitions\, Wiring diagrams\, Automated control systems for residential\, and Troubleshooting. \nThis intensive program is comprised of hands-on training in our state-of-the-art lab\, electrical simulator equipment\, and classroom activities and discussion. Upon satisfactory completion of the course\, the registrant will have a working knowledge of basic electric theory for HVAC components and be able to apply that in a work environment. \n\n\n\nStudents who complete this course successfully will progressively be able to: \n\n• Demonstrate knowledge of the Basic Electric Theory for HVAC Components\, What is Electricity\, Ohm’s Law\, and other theory\n• Properly troubleshoot\, diagnose\, repair\, maintain\, and service popular brands of A/C units and heat pumps\n• Perform installation and maintenance on system components including:  Circuit & Components\, Conductors\,  Transformers\, Thermostats\, Motors\, Other electrical components with minimal supervision\n• Demonstrate grounding in the fundamentals of HVAC electrical components\n• Properly perform assigned duties demonstrating proper safety practices and procedures in the lab and the workplace\, while installing\, designing\, troubleshooting\, and servicing systems\n• Maintain a safe and OSHA compliant work environment\n• Multitask and prioritize all duties and responsibilities in order of importance.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration fees include: \n\nElectrical Tester & Digital Clamp Meter\nEssential Electrical Skills for HVACR Book\n\nOur Instructor: \nMike Elmer has been in the HVAC and plumbing industry since 2002 and has worked for leading contractors in the South Central PA region. His background includes service HVAC\, plumbing\, and electric.
