DESCRIPTION:The PPA is excited to partner with FMCSA and Pennsylvania State Police to offer a new educational opportunity to our membership. DESCRIPTION:Note: This class was previously labeled HM-126F Certification & HazMat CSA Training \nThe Department of Transportation (DOT) requires hazardous material training under 49 CFR 172.704. This requirement applies to any company who transports gasoline\, diesel\, heating oil\, and and/or propane. ALL PERSONNEL handling these hazardous materials\, including those preparing shipping papers\, marking\, labeling\, and packaging.  Commercial vehicle drivers and mechanics who work on hazardous material packages must also receive training. Training includes general awareness\, function-specific training\, safety\, security awareness\, and in-depth security training. Certification of the training is essential for all employees who handle hazardous materials in order to avoid potential civil and criminal violations for non-compliance. \nCLICK HERE to view U.S. Department of Transportation frequently asked questions. \nFrequency of HazMat Training 172.704  \nInitial training of new hazmat employees\, or an employee who changes job functions\, must be completed within 90 days of employment or change in job function. Recurrent training is required at least once every three years.
