Gas Furnace Installation & Troubleshooting – Altoona Training Center

This is an overview of gas furnace technology.
The installation portion includes:
-Proper gas pipe sizing
– Vent sizing and installation for both 80% and 90+ furnaces
– Combustion air code issues
-Proper condensate pipe installation to prevent faults
– Gas furnace controls and safety devices
– Gas pressure testing
– Temperature rise testing
– Basic combustion analysis
– Furnace set up and start up.
The second par of the class will cover troubleshooting for gas furnaces.
The troubleshooting portion includes:
– Furnace sequence of operation and flash codes are used to provide a better understanding of furnace troubleshooting and testing
– Manufacturer error codes are followed and methods are given for testing each error code
– How to use your multi meter to test furnace components
– Using manometers to test gas pressure
– Testing proper temperature rise and referencing static pressure
– Using combustion analysis to troubleshoot the gas furnace
This class will include a contractor tool given to each attendee as well as light refreshments and lunch.
